For many of us, this is a time full of joyous occasions; however, right now, several of our brothers and sisters are without adequate shelter from the harsh winter elements. Please remember that this is also a time for giving.
Starting today until next Wednesday, December 23, we are collecting gently-used coat and jacket donations at the shop. These donations will be distributed to local residents in need.
If you bring just one used coat or jacket to the shop, we’re going to give you a 10% discount to thank you for helping the cause. If you want to bring more than one, I highly encourage doing so. If you are not in the Sacramento area, I recommend that you consider making a similar donation to a local charity.
If you’ve been on slamxhype lately you might have noticed Rip’s new blog. Rip travels more than anyone else I know and is a very talented photographer. If you haven’t seen it yet, do yourself a favor and click HERE.
We are pleased to finally welcome Seattle/Hawaii-based label FLYING COFFIN to the shop. The FC Holiday collection debuts this weekend at Lucky Lefty’s.
While we were celebrating our one year at Lucky Lefty’s, our friends over at W-base in Tokyo were celebrating their fifth year in business. Quite an accomplishment, but no suprise knowing who’s behind the shop. Take a look at their party from last week.
This is Moto, owner of W-base. Moto has been riding bmx for over twenty years and he kills it! Check out some of his other videos when you get a chance. You might have been fortunate enough to get some of Moto’s stickers if you came through the shop recently. This is the original Wbase sticker from Moto’s first year in business. It’s crazy to see how far his shop has come in five short years. Congratulations to Moto, Yohei, and all of our friends at W-base.
If you checked out Burn’s recap of our one year anniversary you might have noticed our friend Hidehiko holding a can of PBR. Hidehiko hails from Tokyo, Japan and currently resides in San Francisco. His skate shop, California Street, is located in the Shibuya district of Tokyo and has been there for over 21 years. He is also an accomplished freelance skate filmer and photographer; filming some of the best skaters around. Hide has always followed his dreams and is a inspiration for the LL team. Here is a look at the one year party from his point of view.
We were fortunate enough to host our One Year party at the shop this past Friday night.
The night featured music by CITYSTATE and DJ Whores, a photography exhibition by Colby Elrick and Colin Arlen (Macaframa), and a couple of ill decorative cakes courtesy of The Frosted Cake Shop.
I want to thank our out of town friends like Benny, Hiromi, and Levi (Benny Gold), who were gracious enough to drive out for the night. Hidehiko (California Street), Joe (House of Commons) and good ol’ Neek (Where’s Neek) even came out from SF and LV.
