The third question discussed in the survey was “what was your most memorable sports moment?” There were a lot of incredible sports moments during the last 10 years…championship runs, #756, comebacks, malices in palaces…but nothing was more significant for those of us in Sacramento than the Kings’ run during the early part of the decade. Not just one moment, but several characterized as the Greatest Show on Court.

Welcome to the life of a Kings fan:
“I have no favorite sports moment, because the Kings always fucking lost at the start of the decade. Thanks to the NBA and Game 6 for ruining all of my sports hopes, dreams and wishes. Perhaps the most exciting team of all time…” – NDP
It pains me to even post this…
“Favorite sports moment? NOT when Robert Horry hit the three against the Kings. I traveled down to the Staples Center to watch game 4 of the 2002 Western Conference Finals. Mike Bibby was in the middle of his amazing playoff run and the Kings were about to go up 3-1 in the series. That was a long flight back to Sacramento.” – Ryan
While the heartbreak and cynicism have been strong ever since that series, it’s important to remember the good times, and the people who brought them to us.
While they didn’t bring home any hardware, the mass hysteria and ensuing local pride was unforgettable. A bunch of goofy dudes came to the “least desirable destination in the NBA” and transformed Arco Arena into a cowbell-powered riot. You can move the team, but you can never take this era away from us.
For many of us, this is a time full of joyous occasions; however, right now, several of our brothers and sisters are without adequate shelter from the harsh winter elements. Please remember that this is also a time for giving.
Starting today until next Wednesday, December 23, we are collecting gently-used coat and jacket donations at the shop. These donations will be distributed to local residents in need.
If you bring just one used coat or jacket to the shop, we’re going to give you a 10% discount to thank you for helping the cause. If you want to bring more than one, I highly encourage doing so. If you are not in the Sacramento area, I recommend that you consider making a similar donation to a local charity.
Thank you.

We were fortunate enough to host our One Year party at the shop this past Friday night.
The night featured music by CITYSTATE and DJ Whores, a photography exhibition by Colby Elrick and Colin Arlen (Macaframa), and a couple of ill decorative cakes courtesy of The Frosted Cake Shop.
I want to thank our out of town friends like Benny, Hiromi, and Levi (Benny Gold), who were gracious enough to drive out for the night. Hidehiko (California Street), Joe (House of Commons) and good ol’ Neek (Where’s Neek) even came out from SF and LV.
I also have to thank all of our sponsors for the night: 10 Deep, Flying Coffin, Mishka, HACrticial, and Vitamin Water.
More than anything, I want to thank all of our friends and family who made it out. Without all of you, this would not be possible.
Cheers.
Still recovering from Black Friday, my sleep schedule is no longer appropriate for this hemisphere (and for those of you that know me, it was already abnormal). Four days later, I’m still amazed by the showing of support we had on Friday, from those people who lined up in the freezing hours of the early morning, to our friends who stopped by simply to say hello.
If it were not for all of these people holding us down from day one, Lucky Lefty’s would not be what it is today. I am extremely thankful for all of the love, and therefore I found it appropriate to embarrass a few of you by putting your mugs up on the front page.
Thanksgiving is coming up, and many households in the Sacramento region are still food insecure. This Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, Lucky Lefty’s will be taking food donations at the shop. All goods will be donated to the Sacramento Food Bank.
The Sacramento Food Bank needs
- Canned and dry goods
- Fresh produce
- Unexpired, USDA certified, perishable food items (meat, eggs, dairy)
- Pots, pans, plates, and silverware
Anybody who brings in a donation will receive a discount for any in-store product. Please help out!

Beginning in November, Arden Fair mall will ban patrons wearing hooded sweat shirts that hide faces and sagging pants that don’t hide what they should.About a year ago, a store was robbed by a man who concealed his face from the mall’s $1.5 million high-tech security camera system by wearing a hooded sweat shirt.
