Pre-Macaframa, your favorite fixed gear directors were making skate videos like the one here. Colby created this video, featuring strictly Sacramento based skaters, over four years ago. The aptly named FTL crew included local skate rats Mark Dillon and JR Dias of Lurk Hard. Matt Pailes (iPath) also gets some shine in the video along with footage of a younger, pre-swoosh, Omar Salazar(NikeSB). With all the things these guys have going on now it’s interesting to look back at this point in time.
The first Summer delivery from SAG is arriving soon at the shop.
Founded in Japan in 2003, SAG specializes in technical gear, engineered specifically for cycling, skating, and snowboarding. The Sacramento valley is a hub for all three lifestyles, and so it only seems natural to introduce this prestigious Japanese brand into the region.
Mr. Pekar leaves us with a lasting legacy of real-life wisdom through self-deprecating humor and neuroticism, organized largely in his classic, autobiographical comic series American Splendor.
Genuine nerds like Toby Radloff. Our Cancer Year. Keeping David Letterman honest. The curmudgeon of a generation, and a poignant reminder of Middle American anguish and humanity.
This week’s Follow Friday is is devoted to a few of the guys making things happen in the fixed gear community. We follow all of them on our twitter and think it’s worth your time too. So, without further ado, I bring you #FixedFriday.

Yohei is also a talented artist and contributes the the shop’s line of shirts. If you are ever in Tokyo, definetly hit them up. In the meantime, check out the W-Base twitter here. (Kudos if you can spot the LL sticker in their background)
When you’re in need of a “fixie fix”, chances are, you will end up on Kris’ blog Locked Cog. Updated multiple times daily, Locked Cog keeps you up to date with the world of fixed gear culture. Kris is a Sacramento native and can often be found at the shop in between riding and working. He’s also a thief, that stole my hat several weeks ago. Just kidding, he’s a good guy, I still want that hat back though. Keep up with all of Kris’ shenanigans on his twitter.
Fixed gear riding has been progressing and growing in Hawaii under the watchful eye of Ryan Lau. Ryan runs things over at Aloha Fixed out of Honolulu. He has been working hard on the first Aloha Fixed film “290ed” and putting out some dope new product. Fresh off his trip from Japan, Ryan has a lot of projects in the works for the growing company. I owe all my vocabulary of Hawaiian pidgin slang to dis bruddah here. See what Ryan has going on, follow the Aloha Fixed Twitter.
W-Base rider Teppei Iwabuchi, better known as “Nasty”, has been pushing the limits for fixed gear trick riding in Tokyo, garnering himself a lot of attention over the past year. Warp Magazine in Tokyo recently did a shoot with Nasty, which is when Ryan(Aloha Fixed) captured the photo below. Great things are always coming out of Japan…I’m very excited to see more from Teppei in the coming months.
Miller, in association with the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA), launched a recent campaign to support returning veterans. To those of us who are consistent consumers of the Champagne of Beers, I encourage you to participate in this promotion. It takes very little effort, and goes to a great cause.

The newest collection from Flying Coffin is finally upon us. While Spring conveyed FC’s Northwest feel, Summer brings it back to the brand’s Hawaiian roots.

NEEK hails from Sin City, a rad dude with an agenda. If he’s not holding down shop at StussyLV, you might catch him cruisin in his decked out Scion xb(right there to the left), updating one of his many websites, or grubbin’ on Korean BBQ at Tofu Hut. Really though, NEEK is everywhere and he takes us all with him via his twitter. Follow him and peep game.
